The Administrator/Chief Executive Officer, Public Service Institute of Nigeria (PSIN), Dr. Abdul-Ganiyu Obatoyinbo mni, led the PSIN management team on a courtesy visit to the Director General NYSC, Brigadier General Shuaibu Ibrahim in his office.

Dr. Obatoyinbo, in his address, thanked the management of NYSC for the warm reception accorded him and his team on arrival. He stated that the visit was to appreciate the leadership of NYSC for their continuous patronage.

He informed the NYSC management that, the Public Service Institute of Nigeria is the foremost Public Service training Institution in Nigeria, with the Mandate to provide competency-based and demand driven training to public servants. He also reiterated that PSIN being a knowledge based Institute, provides capacity building targeted at meeting the needs of individual organisation thereby ensuring that staff are able to be the best at their respective schedules at the end of the training. He also disclosed to the NYSC DG that the Institute is envisioned to be “World –class centre of Excellence in transforming public sector governance, management and leadership development” and is currently being repositioned for better service delivery in the areas of Entrepreneurship and Commercial Orientation, expansion of ICT infrastructure and in the upgrade of the institute’s facilities to ensure transparent and timely conduct of training and examinations.

He further stated that human capacity needs of staff are ever changing globally and for organisation to attain its goals and objectives, it requires employees who are Efficient, Productive, Incorruptible and Citizen-centred (EPIC). This, he said can only be attained by consistent and continuous capacity building through training and retraining of its staff.

He informed the NYSC DG that in recent time, the Institute handled and is still handling strategic assignments involving various Ministries, Departments and Agencies. He also said that the Institute is currently hosting over three thousand N-Power training Participants, the Service-Wide Training on Performance Management System organised by the Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Pre-Examination training for the Directors aspiring to becoming Federal Permanent Secretaries, Pre- Examination training for the Directorate Cadre in the Federal Civil Service, Capacity Building Training and Workshop for States Head of Service and Permanent Secretaries and host of other capacity building Programmes according to training needs of each organisation.

The Director General, NYSC, Brigadier General Shuaibu Ibrahim while welcoming the guests said that the need to train and build capacity of staff is very important and not negotiable. He also expressed his desire to sustain high standard service delivery in the organisation through building the capacity of his staff. He noted that PSIN being a government institution established to carry out manpower development of public servants has been able to live  up to expectations as far as capacity building is concerned. He assured of continuous patronage of PSIN by NYSC in staff training.
