
PSIN CONDUCTS THREE (3) WEEKS ENTREPRENEURSHIP/AGRI-PRENUERSHIP TRAINING FOR FEDERAL CIVIL SERVANTS AND STAFF OF BAYERO UNIVERTY KANO.
Public Service Institute of Nigeria organizes Pre-Retirement and Start- Up training for selected staff of Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation (OHCSF) and Bayero University Kano. The programme is the 4th in the series of FPSEP, initiative of Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation (OHCSF)
The Programme, a sub-initiative of one of the 6 pillars of the Federal Civil Service Strategy and Implementation Plan 2021-2025( FCSSIP25) was introduced as an avenue to cater for the welfare of Public Servants, across the country. Some aspect of the FPSEP is expected to create opportunity for those in service to earn extra income, which will automatically enhance their lifestyles and well-being, as well as enable those in service and retiring to cope with life after service, while contributing to the development of other sectors of the economy.

Addressing participants during the opening session, Head Entrepreneurship and Commercial Orientation Department Mrs Ebun Aboje stated that the training is of two components, the theoretical and practical segments.
The programme will run for five days from Monday 12th to Friday 16th May 2025 for theoretical and the second aspect, the Hands-on training( Agri-preneurship and Business Start-up) would hold at selected farms and skill acquisition centres from 19th to 30th of May, 2025. Bank of Agriculture, Bank of Industry, Nigerian Agricultural Insurance Corporation and Union Bank are expected to make available loans to interested participants of the programme at the end of the training.
She further said, the training will afford serving Civil Servants to enjoy multiple streams of income through Agriculture and its value chain, as enshrined in the revised Public Service Rules(PSR) and also prepare exiting civil Servants for better life after Service.
Speaking earlier, the Administrator/Chief Executive officer PSIN, Dr. Abdul-Ganiyu Obatoyinbo mni, commended the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation Mrs. Didi Esther Walson-Jack and the authority of Bayero University Kano for such a laudable initiative and noted that entrepreneurship and commercial orientation is a must have for all Civil Servants and learning a skill is an avenue to create wealth. According to him “if you cannot create wealth, you will be poor”.
He further stated that “the world itself is an enterprise, failure is not an excuse but part of Life, you can get what you want if you believe in yourself, no one is useless, the need to identify ones areas of strength is very key”. He admonished participants to embrace the opportunity, for it is a guaranteed pathway to self-sufficiency while in active Service and outside Service.
He further advised participants to exchange contacts for networking purposes among themselves after the training.
