ADMINISTRATOR COMMENDS FCTA FOR EMBRACING CAPACITY BUILDING PROGRAMME

The Administrator, Chief Executive Officer of the Public Service Institute of Nigeria (PSIN), Dr Abdul-Ganiyu Obatoyinbo mni, has called on participants from the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) to judiciously utilize the training opportunity made available to them by their organization, to be Efficient, Productive, Incorruptible, Citizen Centered in realization of the desired transformation in their Ministry.

Dr. Obatoyinbo made this known at the flag-of ceremony of the on-going 2021 Workshop on “Fundamentals of Official Communication for Staff of Federal Capital Territory Administration” organized by FCTA in collaboration with PSIN, in Abuja. He admonished participants to be focused and appreciate the training as a capacity building exercise that will further enhance their skill competency and as well as improve their job performances.

He noted that the class is an adult class where all answer to questions are correct depending on individual perspective and urged participants to make the class interactive. He advised them to network and establish a lasting relationship that goes beyond PSIN.

He commended the Honourable Minister Federal Capital Territory Administration, Mallam Mohammed Musa, represented by the Permanent Secretary FCTA, Mr. Adesola Olusade for his support and commitment to capacity building of staff. He assured him that Public Service Institute of Nigeria will continue to develop and enhance capacity of the generality of the public servants, in line with the demands and needs of modern day Public Service.

Speaking earlier, the Honourable Minister Federal Capital Administration Mallam Mohammed Musa Bello, represented by the Permanent Secretary FCTA Mr Adesola Olusade stated that the flag of this the Staff Capacity Building Training holding in PSIN is simply a demonstration of the high premium the administration placed on training, re-training and sustained capacity building for personnel of the FCTA for efficient service delivery and productivity. The training programme scheduled to hold in two segments has a total participant of 166 staff comprising 48 officers on GL 15 and above, and 118 officers on GL 8- 14.

He noted that, the Head of Civil Service of the Federation, Dr. Folasade Yemi- Esan placed much importance on staff training as a veritable strategy to achieve the Goal 1 of the Federal Civil Service Strategy and Implementation Plan ( FCSSIP) which seeks to achieve Efficient, Productive, Incorruptible and Citizen Centred service ( EPIC) through the building of a knowledge based work environment by institutionalizing Structured Mandatory Continuous Training, to Build Competencies of Civil Servants.

He further stated that FCT Administration is conscious of the fact that every staff has a career path to build on and as such requires support through continuous training and retraining to achieve his or her goal in the Public Service. He added that the realisation of this fact amongst others informed the need to organise this tailor–made capacity building programme on “Fundamentals of Official Communication for staff of FTCA”   to address specific and identified capacity gaps in the staff of the Authority.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                        He extended the appreciation and the goodwill of staff and Management of FCT Administration to the leadership of PSIN for providing serene environment adequate for learning and assimilation, as well as thanking PSIN for being a reliable strategic partner. He looked forward to continuous synergy and collaboration with PSIN.
