Our History

Building Excellence in Public Service Leadership Since Inception

 

The Public Service Institute of Nigeria (PSIN) was established as a cornerstone of the Federal Government’s commitment to strengthening the capacity, professionalism, and ethical foundations of the Nigerian public service. Conceived as a premier centre for executive education, research, and leadership development, the Institute arose from the national recognition that an efficient and modern public service is essential to the country’s progress.

Since its founding, PSIN has grown into a dynamic institution dedicated to nurturing a competent, innovative, and service-driven workforce capable of meeting Nigeria’s evolving governance challenges. Prior to its establishment, training and development initiatives across Ministries, Departments, and Agencies lacked coherence and standardization. The Institute was therefore founded to centralize expertise, drive reform, and promote excellence in public administration
