MAYOR OF LONDON BOROUGH OF SOUTHWARK PAID WORKING VISIT TO THE HOCSF

The head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Dr. Folasade Yemi Esan, CFR, received the Mayor of London Borough of Southwark, Michael Situ and his team on a working visit, to discuss possible areas of partnership and exchange programme, designed for secondary students in Nigeria and United Kingdom.

Speaking on behalf of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, the Permanent Secretary, Career Management Office (CMO), in the Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation (OHCSF), Mr. Adeleye Adeoye thanked the Mayor for the choice of secondary school students as beneficiaries of the exchange programme between the two countries, stating that “they are the future of the Service and nurturing them at this stage will ease their transition into the public sector in future”.

He stressed the need to get children back to school to acquire quality education and subsequently contribute positively to the growth and development of the nation at large, in line with the first pillar of the Federal Civil Service Strategy and Implementation Plan (FCSSIP-25) that places high premium on human capital development and talent management, adding that learning is an unending adventure.

Earlier, Mayor of London Borough of Southwark, Michael Situ stated that the visit was aimed at seeking possible areas of partnership on both side of the continent, and understanding the education system in Nigeria and how both countries can share best practices thereby adding value on both sides.                                                                                                                                                                                                    He further, disclosed that what cuts across all areas of the Public Service and being provided by the government at all levels is education “ If you have educated workforce, you will have a productive workforce, a thriving economy, thriving communities, and a thriving society, as well “.

The Administrator Chief Executive Officer Public Service Institute of Nigeria, Dr. Abdul-Ganiyu Obatoyinbo mni, appreciated the Mayor for being a man of his words, having fulfilled his promise to visit Nigeria, for his unalloyed support to PSIN during and after Benchmarking and Study tour of the United Kingdom and also for doing the Country proud.

Dr. Obatoyinbo emphasized that education is directly linked with knowledge and without skills and information, one will remain poor.
