We Will Build A Service Oriented Public Service Through The Provision Of Demand-Driven Training – Dr. Abdul-Ganiyu Obatoyinbo
The Administrator/CEO of the Public Service Institute of Nigeria, Dr. Abdul-Ganiyu Obatoyinbo says the Institute will continue to develop programmes and training modules that will make the Public Service to be service oriented.
Dr. Obatoyinbo said this when he received the representative of Public Administration International (PAI) Denise Smart in his office. Briefing the visitor, the Administrator said that the Institute is being repositioned to enhance the professional, technical, managerial and leadership capabilities of Public Servants on order to deliver quality service to the Nigerian people. He added that as part of the repositioning process, the Institute has developed a Strategic Plan document that will chart the direction for activities and programmes of the Institute for the next five years.
Speaking further, Dr. Obatoyinbo said that the Strategic Plan of the Public Service Institute is geared towards the achievement of the Federal Civil Service Strategic Implementation Plan (FCSSIP) of the Office of the Head of Civil Service of the Federation aimed at transforming the Service to be Efficient, Productive, Incorruptible and Citizen-Centred (EPIC).
He informed the PAI representatives that the Institute is ready to partner with international organisation like PAI to build capacity of staff to position them to provide the needed manpower and professional support in driving the programmes and activities of the Institute towards achieving its mission and vision as well as delivering on its mandate. The PSIN boss said the Institute will require technical support from PAI in this area.
Dr. Obatoyinbo said that the PAI could assist by creating linkages and also exposing staff of the Institute to similar Institutes in other countries adding that as a capacity building Institute, PSIN has to be abreast of modern day training techniques and technology. This he said will enhance the capacity and quality of training of the Institute offers.
Denise Smart in her response assured the Administrator that the PAI is ready and willing to partner with PSIN in building capacity of staff and also any area that the Institute will require technical support.
